Redness On The Face
Redness On The Face
Redness on the face may be caused by an inflammatory process or a burn. Here, we are referring to normal individual whose face or neck appear slightly reddish without any symptoms. Medically, the culprit is called telangiectasia which refers to small and widened blood vessels interconnected to form a web-like appearance. Hence, it’s commonly known as spider veins. It may be caused by genetic, ageing, sun exposure, pregnancy, chronic alcohol abuse, trauma and overuse of steroid cream. It is harmless and is more of a nuisance to many. Sometimes, telangiectasia does level up the challenge of treating stubborn condition like melasma.
Many are bothered by this phenomenon but are unaware of the availability of treatment. 532nm, 585nm and 595nm wavelength lasers are effective at reducing spider veins by selectively targeting haemoglobin in the blood vessels for destruction without harming the adjacent structures. Several sessions of treatment are needed and good results can generally be maintained for a relatively long period depending on the individual.
